To ensure the best results and a comfortable experience, here's how to get ready for your session at ElectroGlow Studio:
Clean Skin Only
Arrive with a clean, makeup-free treatment area. No lotions, oils, or deodorants on the skin.
Let the Hair Grow (Just a Bit)
Avoid tweezing, waxing, or threading the area for at least 3 to 4 weeks before your appointment.
You can shave the area up to 2-3 days before your appointment—just make sure the hair is long enough for us to see and treat (about 1/8 to 1/4 inch).
Limit Sun Exposure
Avoid extended sun exposure and tanning beds prior to your appointment. Minimizing UV exposure helps reduce skin sensitivity and supports optimal healing.
Skip the Skincare Actives
Avoid applying retinoids and chemical exfoliants (AHAs/BHAs) to the treatment area for at least 24 hours before your session. These can increase skin sensitivity.
Check Medications & Health Conditions
If you're taking medications that affect skin sensitivity, like isotretinoin, or have any health conditions that impact healing, please let us know at your consultation.
Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water the day before and the day of your appointment. Well-hydrated skin responds better to treatment.
Limit Caffeine & Alcohol
Limit caffeine and alcohol intake for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment—they can increase skin sensitivity and discomfort.
Dress Comfortably
Wear loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the treatment area and won't irritate your skin afterward.
First Time? We've Got You
If it's your first visit, we'll walk you through everything. Bring your questions—we're here to empower you with clarity and care.
Whether it's your first visit or you're a returning client, here's a step-by-step look at what happens during your session at ElectroGlow Studio:
Consultation (New Clients Only)
We begin with a consultation to understand your hair removal goals, health history, and skin type. You'll have time to ask questions and learn about the electrolysis process.
Cleanse the Treatment Area
We gently cleanse the skin to ensure a clean, safe environment before treatment begins.
Electrolysis Treatment
Using a fine probe, we treat each visible hair with precision. You may feel a brief pinch or warm sensation—this is normal and temporary.
Post-Treatment Cleansing
After treatment, we cleanse the area again to remove any residue and soothe the skin.
Skin Healing Applications
We apply calming, skin-repairing products to reduce redness and support healing. Products are selected based on your skin's needs.
Cataphoresis (Complimentary Treatment)
This soothing step uses a mild current to calm the skin, reduce inflammation, and enhance product absorption. It's especially helpful for sensitive areas.
Checkout & Aftercare Guidance
We'll review your aftercare instructions, schedule your next visit, and answer any final questions. You'll leave feeling informed and cared for.
Your skin may be a little tender after treatment—that's normal! Follow these steps to support healing and keep your results glowing:
Keep It Clean
Gently cleanse the treated area with mild, fragrance-free cleaner. Avoid scrubbing or exfoliating for at least 24 hours.
Soothe & Hydrate
Apply a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic moisturizer to calm and hydrate the skin.
Hands Off
Avoid touching, picking, or scratching the area. Let your skin heal naturally to prevent irritation or scarring.
Skip the Heat
No hot tubs, saunas, or intense workouts for at least 24 hours. Heat and sweat can irritate the skin.
Sun Protection Is a Must
Avoid direct sun exposure on the treated area. If you must be outside, wear a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ and protective clothing.
No Makeup or Harsh Products
Avoid makeup, deodorants, retinoids, and exfoliants on the treated area for at least 24 hours. These can cause irritation.
Expect Mild Redness, Swelling, or Tiny Scabs
These are normal signs of healing. Tiny scabs may form over the pores where the follicle was treated—please don't pick them. They'll fall away naturally as your skin recovers.
